These are the first chocolate chip cookies that I made without direct help. I used my mother’s recipe and she supervised me but otherwise I made them myself. They turned out all right; they’re crispier than I prefer but otherwise they taste fine.
I hate this holiday. I hate the waste, I hate the smell, I hate the noise, I hate the environmental impact. I hate that the founding fathers were racist assholes. I hate that we slaughtered millions of Native Americans to steal their land and their resources. I hate that this country was built by slaves. I hate that this country continues to exploit people of color and the poor. I hate the fact that my dog is currently cowering in a fucking closest for the next week because of the constant noise. I hate that, even if we HAD been able to go camping, we still probably would have had to deal with the noise and smell. I hate, I hate, I hate.
Here’s my Otaku World Mascot, yet another childhood attempt at following the trends. My mascot is Barbara or Ba-chan, named for my grandmother and an original child of my original character from Sailor Moon. At least I finished one of these; I never figured out the Kisekae/KISS coding. I spent so much time drawing little pixel accessories for my fantasy doll, though.
It’s funny; I was just earlier today talking to my mom about how, while I still don’t want children generally, I mourn what might have been. As a child myself I wanted so many kids. After decades of abuse and trauma, however, I came to the conclusion that I wasn’t emotionally or financially or mentally suited to motherhood. I stand by that assessment but sometimes I’m incomparably sad that I’ll never be able to pass on the family names or my experiences. Being an aunt is lovely but it’s just not the same.

Since apparently Etsy has a wack-ass policy with a deadline for reviews, I’m going to have to review my order from @azaroff / @sirazaroff here on Tumblr. >_> Full disclosure: I had Fooze send my order to the address that I didn’t live at yet, so I couldn’t leave a review until I moved up here. Had I known that I had a time limit, I would have just thrown up a five-star review and called it a day.
Fooze shipped my purchases in a heavy-duty envelope. The charms were in a specific envelope marked with the correct character symbols. The different stickers series were in their own little envelopes marked clearly. The “Strictly Business” envelope had my receipt and thank you notes. I also got a little box of strawberry gum! I shared that with my niblings.
The charms (and one pin) are all explicitly “factory seconds” but I honestly can’t tell what is wrong with them. They all look sturdy and unique. I’m especially pleased with my Sailor Jupiter Potpourri Charm | Sailor Moon Keychain.
The stickers are all of a quality vinyl and are very smooth. There’s a couple of holographic ones that are especially nice. I have yet to put any of the stickers on any surfaces as I’m afraid to choose poorly, but they’re all really nice. My favorite set is the Lunar Guardians Sticker Pack | Sailor Moon Stickers. I must admit that I missed two in their envelopes when I took the pictures and I just didn’t have the heart to try and rearrange them all. DX
All in all, I’m completely happy with my order! Fooze is super friendly, professional, and speedy (unlike me). Everything was packed well and shipped out very quickly. I loved all of the little touches like the specific character symbols and the individual envelopes. If I wasn’t desperately trying to KonMari my life I would have kept them all.
